Last half term, we were lucky enough to have some caterpillars and tadpoles. We have been watching them grow and learning about their life cycles. Our tadpoles have grown bigger and will soon grow legs. Our caterpillars made cocoons and just before half term, they reappeared as beautiful butterflies. We released them on to the school field so that they could fly away and find new homes.
On Friday 18th May the nursery celebrated the Royal Wedding. Children dressed up, made crown, designed their own wedding dresses and decorated cakes. We all enjoyed a picnic lunch outside with sandwiches, fruit salad and special blue, red and white cakes.
As you will now see, our outdoor classroom is starting to take shape with the new ‘all weather’ canopy being erected. Look out for further developments through the rest of this term and the summer holidays!
It was lovely to see so many children at our holiday club this half term – we enjoyed a variety of activities including, cooking, cardboard chaos, flag and windmill making, pottery painting and of course we had forest school sessions everyday – from feedback that we have had from parents, the children had a ball and will be back again in the Summer Holidays!
We are still using Makaton in the Bears Room, having a special ‘sign of the week’. The children are all enjoying learning new signs. We have been working on communication and language, playing word games, using flash cards and looking at different concepts. We have also been focusing on listening and paying attention, playing music games in small groups and doing more circle time -helping some of those children who will be moving up to school.
ALL THINGS WILD
This year has flown by and many of our children will be moving up to school soon. Those that are moving up went on a ‘leavers trip’ this week and had a fantastic time at All Things Wild – We were able to hold a variety of small animals, go on a ‘Dino Train’, had a picnic lunch and played in the park (among other things!). Thank you to those parent who were able to join us this year – we hope you had as much fun as we did.
Over the next few weeks, our leavers will be getting ready for our graduation celebrations on 17th July, lots of our Cubs will be moving up to the Bears room in September and so will be doing visits, to get them familiarized with their new room. We will also be holding Sports Day on 9th July and would love to see as many parents as possible cheering the kids on!
We hope everyone had a great half term and we have been really pleased to see so many smiling faces coming back to Nursery after the break!
